How to fill in the form

Fill in your contact information first. All fields need to be completed here.

Fill in basic information about your horse

Age is given by selecting the birthdate. For adult horses (> 3 years of age) the year of birth is sufficiently accurate

Breed is selected from 68 standard breeds in the form. If you cannot find your horse's breed, or your horse is a cross, select the nearest breed. Describe your horse in the free-text field at the bottom of the form.

Horse category is selected in the same way from a list.  If the horse's birthdate is less than 3 years before today's date, the horse categories will be "Young mare" or "Young stallion", respectively.

For a pregnant mare  you will get a field for the date of mating under the section Horse properties.  We need the mating date to to calculate the exact requirements of nutrients for the mare.

In the same way, the foaling date is needed for a lactating mare.

For exercising and competing horses, please select one of the four alternatives of training intensity.

Please observe that when you selected a breed , the form shows the expected body weight based on the breed and for young horses also the age. If you have weighed your horse, or you have a gith measurement, you can use this instead. If you give a value in these fields, they will be used insetad of the standard breed values.

You can also report deviations from a normal  body condition through the form.

Check the roughage types you are feeding your horse. When your horse is on pasture, you should select the time (hours) spent on pasture, and the approximate quality of the grass.

It can be valuable for our continued dialog to know about any previous disease history. Use the checkboxes to report, or explain in more detail in the free text field at the bottom of the form.

Free text field and roughage analyses

Finally, we would like to know about the quality of the roughage you are feeding. You will probably have a feed analysis from your feed provider, or from a feed laboratory.

Some feed laboratories provide a computer readble file (XML-Format) in addition to the standard PDF format. Please send us one or both files as attatchments to the form, if you have them available on your computer or phone. They will typically be stored on your hard disk.

If you only have a paper copy, you may take a picture and attatch as documentation.
You can also give the values for energy, protein and dry matter in the free-text field.

If you send more than one horse, you can refer to the horses for which your feed analysis is valid in the free-text field.

Good luck with the form!
