Too low Calcium/Phosphorus ratio

The ration contains a surplus of phosphorus relative to calcium, although the absolute amounts of calcium may be acceptable. Diseases in the skeleton may develop if feeding of a ration with an unbalanced Ca/P ratio continues for prolonged periods.

Solutions:

Use feeds with a high calcium content like alfalfa and calcium carbonate. Reduce the feeding of phosphorus rich feeds like wheat bran and grains. Be sure that the total contents of calcium and phosphorus are
within the recommended range. "No red lines please!"
